How to Win Friends & Influence People

business book

By Dale Carnegie (Author)

This is probably one of my favorite books on this list, this is an older book but the principles are still relevant today. This book is a bestseller for a reason. It’s recognized as one of the best self-help books in history, and it does what the title says, teaches you how to win friends & influence people while being genuine about it. This should be required reading for all entrepreneurs because relationships are so important when running your own business!

The book has several principles that Carnegie talks about, but these are some of my favorites:

  • Don’t criticize, condemn, or complain
  • Give honest and sincere appreciation
  • Arouse in the other person an eager want
  • Be a good listener. Encourage others to talk about themselves
  • Talk in terms of the other person’s interests

The language is very easy to read, the principles are simple but he has so much wisdom in this book. I can understand why it’s still relevant today and continues to help people!

Thinking, Fast and Slow

most successful entrepreneurs

By Daniel Kahneman (Author)

Thinking, Fast and Slow is the definitive chronicle of the groundbreaking studies that have made Daniel Kahneman one of the world’s most influential thinkers. In this pathbreaking book, Kahneman shows how the mind works and offers practical and enlightening insights into how choices are made, and how we think about the world around us. The impact of his work has been felt in a variety of fields from finance to medicine, politics to sports.

A major presence in virtually every area of public life, Kahneman’s findings have affected not only psychology but economics, law, marketing, and government.

In this pioneering work, Daniel Kahneman uses his groundbreaking research to demonstrate how our “experiencing selves” and our “remembering selves” perceive happiness differently. The experiencing self is the one that answers the simple question of “how happy are you right now?” This self changes as time passes; it doesn’t remember what happened in the past or plan for the future. The remembering self, on the other hand, is made up of our memories and thoughts about ourselves. It’s this self that keeps score—of successes and failures, happiness and sadness.
