Puzzle Piece

In 2005, a younger Ivan had a choice. He was at a crossroads between the BPO industry and teaching. When he made the choice to get into BPO, he quickly became comfortable with the industry. As an agent, he had a knack for the job. He was getting awards like “employee of the month”, at one time even earning a certificate for being one of the top 3 employees of the year, and eventually being promoted to supervisor. He described the experience as “fulfilling”. Not just because he was getting these awards and recognition, but because as a supervisor he was able to share his knowledge and skills with his team, a natural teacher. He said, “At first, it was my choice, and then it became like the job chose me”. Things just kind of clicked.

One of the department heads stated that when they interviewed Ivan, it was like discovering fire. He had impressed everyone so much that they knew from the get-go that he was a “superstar” that would help take MySource to new heights. They knew they needed to bring him on, even if it meant having to create a position for him.

Joining MySource meant a lot to Ivan. When he was offered the job, he realized that many people in his position might have declined the job offer, with the reasoning that they want a more structured, larger, very well-established company. However, knowing the company was still in its early stages, Ivan saw an opportunity. It was an opportunity to prove to himself that he could help the company grow.

He went on to assist in the growth of that account, thus leading to the growth of the company as a whole. When he first began working on this account, Ivan began building and arranging a team under and around him, promoting people where necessary, etc. It was quite challenging in the beginning, because there were a lot of processes and pathways that he had to create on his own. But he was up to the challenge, and he liked the fact that he was given a chance to do things his way, with the company trusting in his experience and expertise. Ultimately, this account grew dramatically, growing over 800% in just a year and a half. Ivan and the whole team’s hard work really paid off. It was at that point that the COO promoted Ivan to Director of Operations.

Since Ivan started with MySource, the company has grown by over 80%, and it’s still growing. This is not to say that Ivan is solely responsible for this growth but to say that he fits like a missing puzzle piece into a company with a growth mindset. When all the pieces come together, and you can see the big picture, all that can happen is growth. Ivan sees MySource continuing to expand and becoming just as competitive as the big BPO companies.

Ivan recalled a conversation with the CEO, Jon Roos and COO, Daryl Christensen, at an all-company party in 2022. Though the party was spectacular, and the room they were in was very nice, they envisioned outgrowing that room relatively quickly. There was a grand ballroom in the hotel where they held the event that they are looking forward to filling in the near future.

For Ivan, it is not just about reporting to work to get paid, but the fulfillment that comes from seeing the ongoing expansion of the entire company and knowing that he’s had a hand in that. Throughout his career, Ivan has demonstrated a strong growth mindset, a commitment to teamwork, and an ability to put the pieces of the puzzle together to overcome challenges and see the bigger picture. He is an invaluable asset to both MySource Solutions and BPO as a whole.
